Team owners know best what content should be stored, who should access it, and methods to collaborate on it. If a team becomes orphaned, it risks the team going into read-only mode if quotas are exceeded and leaves the burden on IT, who won't necessarily have the content knowledge to make the best decision on how to administer the team.

Microsoft Teams allows the freedom to create Teams and Channels without approval, resulting in sprawl, seldom used or dead teams, and data scatter all over chats, channels, and files. Reduce Teams sprawl by setting up notifications when Teams is inactive for the time period you select.
